Restoring Ghana’s Black Volta Basin

Transforming Lives Through Environmental Conservation

Our ongoing efforts to restore the Black Volta Basin have shown remarkable progress in the past year. Working closely with local communities in the Bono Region, we’ve implemented sustainable practices that are already showing positive results for both the environment and local livelihoods.

Community Engagement and Education

Through our community sensitization programs, we’ve reached over 2,000 residents across three participating communities: Namasua, Oforikrom, and Tainso. These sessions have been crucial in helping local communities understand the importance of riparian vegetation and sustainable land management practices.

Project Achievements

  • Established a 100,000-seedling capacity tree nursery
  • Trained 55 farmers in silvicultural operations
  • Initiated restoration of 150 hectares of degraded farmland
  • Formed partnerships with local government agencies and traditional authorities

Looking Forward

As we move forward with this six-year project (2024-2029), we remain committed to our goal of creating lasting positive change in the region. The next phase will focus on expanding our nursery operations and implementing additional training programs for local farmers.
